Kin subscribes to the Code of Ethics and Conduct Policy developed by Gymnastics Canada as defined in the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS) and embraces its responsibility to create a safe environment that ensures a positive, healthy and fulfilling experience for all athletes. Young athletes place their safety and well-being in the hands of the expertise and authority of their coaches, and are particularly vulnerable due to their young age and the long hours that they spend away from their families training.
With increased acknowledgement and awareness of the importance of compliance with policies and guidelines, we at Kin believe that everyone must make a concerted effort to implement and uphold practices and behaviours that keep our athletes safe. To that end, Kin demands standards of behaviour that coaches, parents, staff and volunteers must follow to ensure athlete well-being.
Creating a legacy of safe sport practices requires more than just following guidelines and procedures. It requires athletes. parents, coaches, administrators, club owners, as well as provincial and national federations to take collective responsibility.
